How to Choose the Right Power Rack

A power rack is the foundation of any free weight training setup. With safety bars and J-cups to secure the barbell, you can safely push heavy weights even when training alone. Whether you're building a home gym, personal training studio, or commercial fitness facility, a quality power rack is essential.

At UCHINOGYM, we carry power racks, half racks, combo racks, and squat stands from American-made REP Fitness and German-engineered ATX Fitness. All products are sold as authorized Japanese imports with full manufacturer warranty.

3 Key Factors When Choosing a Power Rack

① Frame Gauge & Weight Capacity
The industry standard for commercial power racks is 3x3" 11-gauge steel. Both REP Fitness and ATX Fitness use this specification across their flagship lines. A 1" hole size is most common and ensures compatibility with a wide range of third-party attachments.

② Number of Uprights (4-Post vs 6-Post)
4-post racks are compact and space-efficient, making them ideal for home gyms. 6-post racks offer a larger interior space for easier barbell handling and additional safety options like spotter arms. Cable and lat pulldown attachments can be added to both 4-post and 6-post models.

③ Attachment Expandability
The true value of a power rack lies in its expandability through attachments. REP Fitness offers over 100 attachments, and ATX Fitness provides an extensive lineup as well — allowing a single rack to serve as a complete training station.

From ATX Fitness, the Half Rack 700 Series is built for high-traffic commercial environments, and the Smith Machine Half Rack 700 Series combines a Smith machine and half rack in a single space-saving frame.
