Black Competition Bumper Plates

Description

Black Competition Bumper Plates offer the same quality and precision as color-coded competition bumper plates, but with a matte black finish.

Designed for Olympic lifting and high-frequency training, they can withstand repeated drops from overhead or shoulder height. This makes them suitable for cross-training facilities, high school and university weight rooms, and facilities where the same plates are used for continuous training throughout the day.

Featuring reinforced zinc-coated steel disc inserts and a low-bounce material, these plates effectively absorb and dissipate impact more effectively than standard bumper plates.

Large, embossed weight markings make it easy to identify the weight of each plate without relying on color. Additionally, raised rubber lips prevent the steel disc inserts from directly contacting the floor, protecting against floor wear and damage.

Designed for standard 50mm Olympic barbells, all plates meet a strict weight tolerance of ±10g (0.25%) and conform to IWF (International Weightlifting Federation) standards.

Each set is designed for long-term use and comes with a 5-year warranty. Furthermore, the factory conducts drop tests of over 30,000 drops from approximately 2.4 meters high to prove their durability.

The available set combinations are as follows:

90kg Set: 10kg x 2 plates, 15kg x 2 plates, 20kg x 2 plates
110kg Set: 10kg x 2 plates, 20kg x 2 plates, 25kg x 2 plates
120kg Set: 15kg x 2 plates, 20kg x 2 plates, 25kg x 2 plates
140kg Set: 10kg x 2 plates, 15kg x 2 plates, 20kg x 2 plates, 25kg x 2 plates

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose bumper plates or iron plates?
Bumper plates are manufactured to withstand being dropped to the floor. Therefore, they are suitable for Olympic weightlifting, which often involves dropping plates to the floor, such as snatch, clean & jerk, and hang clean.
Iron plates, on the other hand, are suitable for exercises where weights are not dropped to the floor, such as bench press, squats, and curls. Dropping iron plates can damage the floor, barbell, or the plates themselves.

Is there anything I need to do when my bumper plates arrive?
Once your bumper plates arrive, remove them from their packaging and air them out in a well-ventilated area for a few days. This can help reduce any faint residual odors specific to the product.

How can I make my bumper plates last longer?
Try to drop the plates as directly downwards as possible. If the barbell collars loosen during training, retighten them to ensure the plates always land vertically. This can reduce the lateral force on the center disc of the bumper plates.
Additionally, using flooring that can absorb some impact, such as thick rubber mats or weightlifting platforms, can reduce the shock when plates are dropped.

Can I mix bumper plates and iron plates on the same barbell?
Generally, it is not recommended to mix bumper plates and iron plates on the same barbell. The diameter of iron plates and bumper plates may differ slightly. If the barbell is dropped in such a state, the impact will concentrate on the plate with the larger diameter, potentially accelerating wear and tear on that plate and the barbell.
However, combining full-sized bumper plates with change plates is acceptable as long as the total weight of the smaller diameter plates does not exceed 10kg. If it reaches 10kg, it is recommended to remove the change plates and replace them with 10kg bumper plates of the same diameter.
Example:
If you load a 20kg bumper plate, a 5kg plate, and a 2.5kg plate on each side of the barbell, the total weight will be 75kg, and this combination is fine. If you want to increase to 80kg, instead of adding smaller plates, remove all change plates and replace them with 10kg bumper plates.
To ensure your plates and barbell last as long as possible, we recommend using the same type of plates whenever feasible.

What is the diameter of the center hole? And what size barbells are they compatible with?
All REP bumper plates have a 50mm Olympic standard center hole and are compatible with 50mm Olympic barbells.
